Kate Jorgensen appointed to Board of Southern Cross Medical Care Society
Kate Jorgensen has been appointed to the Board of Southern Cross Medical Care Society (Society), effective today, 10 February 2025.
Society Chair Chris Black says, “We are delighted to welcome Kate to the Board, the intention being that she will also chair our Board Audit and Risk Committee, bringing her considerable experience in this important area of the Society on behalf of our more than 950,000 members.
“Kate’s strong financial acumen, commercial experience and governance expertise in highly regulated environments with a focus on risk management and sustainability will offer additional expertise to Society, complementing the existing skills and experience we have on the Board”
Ms Jorgensen (MTF – BBus (Accounting) – CA – CMInstD) currently holds non-Executive Director positions at Chorus, Suncorp and Kiwibank. Prior to this, she held Chief Financial Officer positions within the telecommunications, infrastructure and construction industries, leading large teams across a range of complex activities and disciplines.
Ms Jorgensen is also a mentor and impact coach for Springboard Trust which offers learning programmes designed to enable the development of outstanding educational leaders.

Kate Jorgensen’s appointment is effective until the 2025 Society Annual General Meeting, at which point she will step down and formally stand for the role, to be elected by Society members in accordance with the Society Rules.
