Benefits of membership

Using your member benefits

With a Southern Cross plan, you can access member offers such as discounts on wellbeing services like eye and hearing tests, dental treatments and gym memberships.

This is made possible because we focus on the needs of our members, without the need to return profits to shareholders . That means most of the money we receive in premiums goes back to our members. It’s just another way we are with you.

Free of charge online GP appointments with CareHQ*

We want you to get the care you need when you need it. That’s why we’ve made free of charge  online GP appointments available to Southern Cross members when they book an appointment between 7am and 7pm through the MySouthernCross app. Instead of paying $79.95.

CareHQ is an online health consultation service that makes it easier to connect with a New Zealand-registered GP or nurse seven days a week. All the doctors at CareHQ are Fellows of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, and you can still return to your normal GP for on-going care.

Each member 16 years and older will need to use their personal login to book through the MySouthernCross app. For dependent children on the policy under 16, appointments can only be booked by the policyholder.

If you’re unable to make your bookings in the MySouthernCross app, get in touch with us for assistance. If you book through the CareHQ website or CareHQ app, we’ll only be able to reimburse you if you have GP cover included in your policy, subject to the terms of your policy, including benefit limits.
